The PRP (platelet-rich plasma) Facial involves taking a patient’s own blood. The PRP Facial, similar to the Vampire Facial™ and Stem Cell Facial, uses your body’s own organic material to stimulate the growth of collagen and elasticity in skin cells. These facials have become extremely prevalent in pop culture and the MedSpa community, as they are minimally invasive and use natural materials.
Common Reasons for PRP Facial
Almost anyone can receive this facial, as it enhances your natural glow and beauty. It is most helpful in removing wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, and it restores youthful elasticity and shape. Most people seek out this facial when they experience:
- Sagging or drooping skin
- Crow’s feet
- Uneven texture of skin
- Acne scarring
- Enlarged pores
How It Works
PRP is blood plasma that has been separated using a centrifuge; red blood cells are removed, leaving a serum of platelets and plasma that is usually combined with a small amount of filler. The high platelet content promotes new cell growth in damaged tissue and can regenerate skin cells; the filler enhances the plasma’s effect in deep wrinkles.
Before applying the PRP, your face will be cleansed, exfoliated and toned. Then a micro-needling technique is used to create tiny, acupuncture-like depressions in the skin so the plasma serum can work into the tissue of your face.
The plasma is then washed off the face and a cream is applied. The whole process is generally fast and requires no anesthesia. You can return to work within a couple hours and aftercare is minimal.
